Jakarta-born Ferdy Tumakaka made his debut at age 17 as the First Prize Winner of the 2001 Jakarta Piano Competition. The recipient of numerous awards, he’s performed as a soloist on three continents, most recently at the 10th International Chopin and Friends Festival at the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in New York. In 2007, Ferdy joined forces with Yamaha Rising Star Noriko Suzuki to form the critically acclaimed piano duo Ferdiko, which was featured in the Distinguished Concerts International New York 2009 Artist Series.

Ferdy has also served as music director and arranger for musical theater productions in both his native Jakarta and New York, including Namarina’s 2002 production of “Talking Toes”, an adaptation of “Fame--The Musical.” He is currently music director and co-arranger of “There’s Something I Need to Tell You,” a new musical in development at the Workshop Theater Company in New York.

At age 21, Ferdy was named Music Director for the New York Theatre Ballet, a position he held until last year. He has recorded several CDs for ballet, including “développés: adagios for dance”, which won the Grindie Awards from RadioIndy.

Ferdy is an alumnus of Yayasan Pendidikan Musik Music School and Manhattan School of Music where he received his training from Aisha Sudiarso Pletscher and Donn-Alexandre Feder.
